The Bono Regional Chairman of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), Kwame Baffoe aka Abronye DC, described wealthy businessman and top party official Kennedy Agyapong, as a greedy and dishonest individual.
Speaking in an interview addressing the worsening beef between the two NPP stalwarts, Abronye said Kennedy Agyapong was a nobody until former President Kufuor showered him with contracts that catapulted him to wealth.
Abronye claimed that Kennedy Agyapong later expressed opinions that soured the reputation of Kufuor, which Abronye insisted is a clear demonstration of Agyapong’s lack of integrity.
The two controversial personalities are locked in a bitter back-and-forth war of words as battle lines are clearly drawn ahead of an expected bitter 2028 flagbearer contest in the NPP.
After Agyapong appeared to embarrass Abronye during the party’s unity tour, he fired back at him in an interview sighted by GhanaCelebrities.com.
Abronye said that for all Agyapong’s bragging about his wealth, he owes most of it to former President John Agyekum Kufuor.
Abronye claimed Agyapong failed as a taxi driver in the United States and returned to Ghana only to receive several contracts from the Kufuor government, which turned him wealthy.
He said, despite this, Agyapong once turned on Kufuor.

According to a report from The Herald newspaper, published on Ghanaweb, Agyapong received massive sole-sourced contracts through his wife, Stella Agyapong, at the Energy Ministry during President Kufuor’s tenure, which made him millions of dollars.
War of words
Abronye, an expected ally of former Vice President and 2024 NPP Presidential candidate, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, was caught in a war of words with Agyapong during the NPP’s unity tour.
Abronye called out party officials who are not doing well at keeping the party’s theme of unity.
Agyapong fired back by bragging about his wealth and belittling the contribution of others to the NPP in relation to his own.
“Some people talk as if they are men. They are not men but women. When it comes to money, they cannot take part. They have to go and beg, yet they talk as if the whole world is for them,” Agyapong said. He angrily ended his speech by noting that poor people even feel emboldened to talk, how much more a wealthy person like himself.
