You Can’t Do Sh*t for God – Nana Tornado On Why Worshipping God Is A Colossal Waste of Everyone’s Time

Controversial Ghanaian entertainer Nana Tonardo, real name Emil Woode, has rubbished the need for humans to worship God, describing it as a waste of everyone’s time.

Speaking during an appearance on the Rants, Bants, and Confessions podcast featuring Ghanaian actress/singer Efia Odo and her co-panellists, Tonardo described himself as a freethinker. He explained that while he believes in the existence of a creator, he does not believe there is any utility in worshipping said creator or wasting precious resources trying to find them or understand their ways.

According to Nana Tonardo, no one can prove the existence of God, so it is a useless endeavour to chase after him. He opined that God created man with everything we need to survive in this world, so we should rather put our brains and skills to use rather than try to find God and have a personal relationship with him.

“..There is a creator, but no one on this earth can prove the existence of God…[God]has created us. He has given us, Life. Life. He has given us the brain to think. Excuse my language. What else am I going to look for him to do for me?” Tonardo said.

Elaborating further, the former ‘Afia Schwarzenegger’ show alum pointed to physical objects within the podcast studio. Using a chair as an example, he said the fact that we can tell someone created the chair does not mean we have to find out and speak to that person before we can use it for its intended purpose.

“You bought this chair. Right? For what? Podcast… And to sit. So will you tell me you’re going to look for whoever made this chair? No. But you know it was made. So will you say because of that, you are going to look for the owner? No. So if God has created you, why then are you going to look for him? To do what for you? But He has given you the brain and everything.,” Tonardo further explained.

The socialite blasted Ghanaian culture, which has created a situation where people believe the only way to be successful is to attend church 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Tonardo mocked such people, noting many never write an application letter but simply go to church praying for a miracle job.

He also pointed fingers at Ghanaian pastors who have created a convenient system in which they are mini-gods whom people have to see to solve their life’s problems. “Everyone is a God. So if you see your pastor as a god, it’s up to you…we’re all made in the image of God.”

Tonardo narrated how earlier in life, he had the same mindset as most Ghanaians, believing God would make him successful without putting in much work. He added that he luckily escaped that mindset and now ensures he works hard every day to be successful. He advised all Ghanaians to adopt that mindset and stop focusing so much on prayer and church.

“You can’t shi*t for God,” Tonardo said. “Even if prayer works, it’s only 1%.” He said the other 99% depends on human effort, calling on people to wake up from their slumber and make things happen in their lives.
