Students of the University of Mines and Technology (UMAT) in Takoradi organized a candlelight vigil for their deceased colleague, Davis Frimpong Manso, following his recent demise.
Manso, a Level 300 student, was reported killed on Thursday, April 10.
Reports alleged that the Transport and Logistics degree student suddenly died after consuming poisonous food. Manso had allegedly just received confirmation of being granted a scholarship to travel to the United Kingdom to continue his studies.
Manso’s dream was cut short after he partook in a meal with a so-called ‘friend.’ He fell violently ill after the meal and was pronounced dead a short while later.
News of his death was confirmed in a social media post shared April 10 by user @ghanamadeit_ on X (formerly Twitter).

According to his source, Manso’s roommate, who is accused of being involved, has gone AWOL since the incident.
In light of the incident, Manso’s parents are calling for a police investigation into his death but so far are being met with silence and indifference, the report said.
The University of Mines and Technology are also yet to publicly comment on the incident.
