Ghanaian musician Kuami Eugene has revealed more about how he became the “Rockstar” he is today.

The “Angela” hitmaker shared that he started as a gospel musician, singing in churches and at other events.

According to him, it was the church that taught him almost everything about music, including how to play the piano among others as a few of the things the church taught him.

He noted that since he had learnt everything about music from the church, while he was at the tertiary, he was still playing drums and doing many other things for the church.

However, Kuami Eugene said that he was not getting any support from the church despite all the sacrifices.

“I am still a minister of God. So the transition started from the church. I started from the church. The church taught me every single thing. Like how to play the piano, how to play the drum, and many others. The church taught me”, the musician shared.

Adding that “So what happens was after senior high school, I was schooling tertiary institution and I was still doing the music thing. I was playing drums for the church. And I was still doing the music thing but the push wasn’t there like I am getting the push now. I mean the push wasn’t there like after the MTN Hitmaker. There was no push. I was just singing. Some church elders would tell me I was good so they wanted me to perform at their children’s weddings. You would even show up and go and sing and after that, they would just give you some 20 for transportation. You understand? So it was that hard in the church”.

Kuami Eugene revealed that things got better after he visited the Volta Region, revealing that one of his best friends then took him to the Volta Region and surprisingly enough, everything went in his favor after that.

Meanwhile, Kuami Eugene did not state what he went to the Volta Region to do.
