As the camera pans on the duo, Shatta Wale declares: “That’s my artist of the year,”

King Promise has launched a full-court press to be crowned the 2025 TGMA Artist of the Year in recent weeks after losing out on the award last year.

The ‘Terminator’ hitmaker announced media personality, Tilly Akua Nipaa as his spokesperson for the award campaign and Nipaa has been making the media rounds, battling spokespersons for other artists and relentlessly making the case that King Promise deserves the crown.

The 2026 TGMA awards are slated for Saturday, May 10, 2025 at the Grand Arena at the Conference Centre in Accra.

King Promise is the favourite for the award, but faces stiff competition from defending champion Stonebwoy, King Paluta, and others.

Numbers show King Promise’s dominance

Tilly Akua Nipaa, during a recent media appearance, stated emphatically that King Promise deserves to win the Artist of the Year award, going by numbers.

According to her, streaming data shows that King Promise dwarfs his other competitors when it comes to how popular their songs are, especially on the international stage.

Nipaa quoted numbers to show King Promise is completely clear of any competition when it comes to determining who is the biggest artist in Ghana.

According to her, on Spotify, King Promise has 100million streams while King Paluta has 8million and Stonebwoy only 6 million.

She said regarding monthly streams, King Promise has 2.1million while Stonebwoy has around 400,000 streams and King Paluta has only 164,000 streams.
