NPP National Vice Chairman Threatens NIB Operatives Following Attempted Arrest of Ntim Fordjour

The 3rd National Vice Chairman of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), Alhaji Osman Masawudu, threatened to end the life of any operative of the National Intelligence Bureau (NIB) who storms his home without a warrant.

Masawudu, speaking on Original TV on Thursday, April 10, addressing the recent raids by NIB operatives on the homes of NPP officials, which the party has termed as ‘political persecution,’ noted he will resist any such action targeted at him specifically.

Alhaji Masawudu promised without mincing words that if he spots any national security operative at his East Legon residence with no legal document to effect an arrest, he would shoot the individual.

“Me, Alhaji Masawudu, by the power vested in me as the NPP’s Vice Chairman, if I am home in East Legon and any NIB operative enters my home without any notice or warrant, and I see people in my home attempting to arrest me, I will deal with them as criminals and armed robbers, and I will k*ll them,” he said, speaking in Twi.

Ahaji Masawudu said the country was descending into lawlessness with the NDC’s attempt to persecute top NPP officials and advised his party members to ‘sleep with one eye open’.

His comments come on the heels of NIB operatives storming the residence of the Member of Parliament for Assin South, Rev. Ntim Fordjour, a day previously, seeking to arrest him for his testimony following allegations that an aeroplane that entered the country was trafficking drugs.

Fordjour made the allegations in a press conference but has since declined to provide any evidence despite the government’s attempt to bring him into custody to do so. During the raid at his home Wednesday, the operatives eventually left following a call from the minority leader in Parliament, Alexander Afenyo Markin, pleading for more time for Ntim Fordjour to make his appearance.
