NPP Has No Moral Right to Call for Sammy Gyamfi to Be Sacked after Defending Cecilia Dapaah – Afia Pokuaa ‘Vim Lady’

Ghanaian media personality, Afia Pokuaa aka ‘Vim Lady’, called out the New Patriotic Party (NPP) opposition for being hypocrites in calling for Sammy Gyamfi to be sacked.

In a post shared on her Instagram handle, the U.S.-based Ghanaian media personality said the NPP during their time in power staunchly defended Cecilia Dapaah after millions of dollars were found stashed in her home, making them unsuited to call for Sammy Gyamfi’s head.

Top NDC communicator Sammy Gyamfi, who currently heads the government’s Goldbod initiative, has been embroiled in a scandal for the past few days after he was caught on camera ‘flaunting wealth’.

Gyamfi, following a chance meeting with Ghanaian preacher Evangelist Patricia Asiedu, popularly known as Nana Agradaa, gifted her a stack of dollar bills that she claims to total $800.

The act was caught on camera and Gyamfi was criticised for his actions, which critics believe are contrary to the government’s commitment to fight corruption.

He issued an apology, insisting he was engaging in a private act of charity that was publicised. Meanwhile, Agradaa has offered to return the money to make the controversy die down.

Reacting to the scandal, the NPP caucus in Parliament decried Gyamfi’s conduct and called for him to be dismissed to show the government’s seriousness in fighting corruption.

In her reaction to the saga, Afia Pokuaa said the minority are in no position to call for Gyamfi to be sacked, considering they defended far worse instances of corruption by their appointees.

“We know what Sammy Gyamfi did was an indiscretion, especially given how he criticized others in the past, BUT the way NPP is ‘crying blood’ and demanding his sack is unbelievable,” Afia Pokuaa wrote. “Not long ago, NPP was busy justifying Cecelia Dapaah’s $1M saga. We must all learn from this, cos as the Ghanaian proverb says, “abaa a yedi bo takyi no yede bo baah”
