King Promise’s Songs Go Viral Due to Dance Challenges, Not Because They’re Good – Stonebwoy’s PRO, Vida Adumtwumwaa

The Public Relations Officer (PRO) for reggae dancehall superstar Stonebwoy, Vida Adutwumwaa, downplayed the songwriting talent and appeal of King Promise as the battle for the Artist of the Year Award at the Telecel Ghana Music Awards 2025 heats up.

Speaking during a head-to-head battle with Tilly Akua Nipaa, the spokesperson for King Promise’s TGMA push, Adutwumwaa tackled the argument that King Promise’s music has more of an international reach than Stonebwoy’s.

Adutwumwaa in her rebuttal, claimed that the popularity of King Promise’s music has nothing to do with its quality but rather is due to the fact that the singer strategically uses dance challenges to make his songs go viral.

She added that Stonebwoy doesn’t engage in those kinds of cheap tricks. Adutwumwaa said whenever you hear a Stonebwoy song on the international stage, you know the song became a hit on its own merit and not on the back of a dance challenge.

“I’m coming to reveal the secret to King Promise’s songs trending or becoming global hits. After revealing this secret, next year over 15 musicians will be fighting for artist of the year,” Adutwumwaa said, speaking in Twi. “Let me tell you, most of his songs going international is due to the dance taking the lead ahead of the sound. So we need to praise Dancegod Lloyd and others [for helping King Promise with hit songs],” she said.

Adutwumwaa added: “Everywhere you hear a Stonebwoy song, it is the sound going before any freaking dance,”

Her comments follow a sustained push from the camp of King Promise, led by Akua Nipaa, to anoint him as the inevitable winner of this year’s TGMA. Speaking during a recent interview, Nipaa used King Promise’s massive gap in the number of streams of the two artists to opine there is no comparison between the ‘Paris’ hitmaker and his main rivals, King Paluta and Stonebwoy.
