I’ll Join You Soon – Highlife Legend Dada KD’s 2020 Post After Bishop Bernard Nyarko’s Death Resurfaces

A 2020 post from deceased highlife legend Dada KD, which seemingly foreshadowed his death, has surfaced on social media following his tragic demise.

After the sad death of Kumawood actor Bishop Bernard Nyarko, Dada KD, who at the time was lamenting over the lack of systems in the Ghanaian music industry to protect creatives, shared a post indicating he was in a disturbed state himself.

Dada KD called on Bishop Nyarko to rest in peace, then added a troubling addendum about being prepared to join him and Kofi B in the land of the dead very soon.

“May your gentle soul find you a perfect place to keep you Bishop Bernard Nyarko,” Dada KD wrote. “My regards to Kofi B and tell him it won’t be long I’ll join you all too soon. Our industry sucks,”

Dada KD’s post at the time raised alarm over his mental state, although little was done to address his concerns, which bordered on the lack of a proper royalty system in the country to raise revenue for artists like himself who have produced countless hits over the years but have to battle with financial insecurity as they age.

Dada KD death

On the night of Friday, May 16th, 2025, it was abruptly announced that Dada KD had tragically passed away.

No cause of death was explicitly stated.

In an interview with Ghanaian vlogger Felix Adomako Mensah, aka Zionfelix, media personality Nana Romeo said he had been with Dada KD a day or two prior to his death and showed no signs of being ill.

Nana Romeo said they were working on procuring a visa for Dada KD to travel abroad for a performance in the U.K. at the end of May, only for him to be informed on Friday that he had passed.

Romeo said Dada KD was found at his home in an unresponsive state and was transported to hospital in Gbawe, where he passed away.

The Accra FM presenter added that while outwardly Dada KD was fine, internally, he was battling financial and other problems.

“Our brother was going through a lot, when you meet one-on-one and he pours out his heart to you…financially, psychologically, and emotionally, he was not ok. He was passing through a lot, he did not have inner peace but outwardly, he wasn’t physically sick.”

Nana Romeo said whenever he meets Dada KD, one conversation they get into a lot is the lack of a royalty system in Ghana, which prevents musicians from making money from their music, irrespective of how popular it is.
