I Need a Nigerian Passport So I Can Relocate; Ghana Is A Toilet – Shatta Wale

Self-proclaimed dancehall king Shatta Wale announced his intention to leave Ghana and permanently relocate to Nigeria, describing Ghana as a ‘toilet’ and a ‘foolish country’.

Wale, in a rant shared on social media, implored Nigerian citizens to plead with their government to grant him a passport and make him a citizen so he can permanently move there and leave Ghana behind.

The ‘Gringo’ hitmaker claimed that Ghanaians have zero appreciation for all his accomplishments and continue to undermine him by claiming he is not as rich as he claims.

Wale’s rant comes after his recent link-up with Nigerian creator Peller, who visited Ghana and was chaperoned around by Shatta Wale. Wale showed off his wealth, cars, and houses during this time but received pushback from some social media users who claimed all he was showing off was ‘settings’ – an online term for ‘fake’.

That triggered Wale, who took to his social media pages to rant.

“Shoutout to Nigeria. Naija abeg you people you no go fit tell … I know say u people dey complain about Tinubu but abeg, please can you tell your government so I can get a Nigerian passport? This place is toilet, this country is toilet for me,” Wale said, speaking in Ghanaian pidgin English.

He continued, “They don’t appreciate successful people. I want to pack all my cars, sell all my houses and buy property for Nigeria and dey there. Make you people just give me name… I dey tire for here, ebi foolish country, Naija, where I dey ebi foolish country.”

Wale complained about social media critics who claim his lavish wealth is completely fake. He said if he is not taken out of this country, he might end up ‘killing’ someone.

Wale’s critics did not relent despite his rant, with some social media users begging Nigeria to grant him his wish so he can leave the country.

“Tinubu, we beg we take dash you…. you would have solved one of our biggest problems in Ghana if you give Asimesi citizenship in Nigeria,” Instagram user, maa_sakyibea said. Others complimented his ex-girlfriend and baby mama, Shatta Michy, for being brave enough to have stayed with such a character for over a decade.

Wale over the years constantly stoked controversy on social media, a tactic he uses to maintain his relevance. Despite calling for Nigerians to grant him citizenship, Wale, during another rant years ago, attacked all Nigerian artists after successfully selling out the Accra Sports Stadium for a show. Taking aim at critics who said he wouldn’t be able to do that, he said, “They said I won’t be able to fill my own stadiums, I don’t need any Nigerian artiste to sell out Ghana’s stadium, f**k Nigerian artistes.”

His comments at the time sparked a feud with multiple Nigerian celebrities and the Nigerian populace, who dragged him for being a bitter local champion.
