Gospel Musicians of This Era Lack the ‘Holy Spirit’ – Mimi Andani

Ghanaian singer Mimi Andani attacked the gospel singers of this era for failing to embody the holy spirit in their lifestyles.

Mimi, speaking in a recent interview, said she sees the current crop of gospel musicians as mere singers and not exactly representations of the spirit of God.

Her comments occurred during an appearance on Onua TV while discussing the ongoing stories of gospel singers crying about other singers taking them to ‘juju’.

“I’m not surprised that some gospel musicians claim other gospel singers attempt to take them through ‘juju’, it’s normal. If you check the gospel musicians – open your eyes and check them well – do they all seem good to you?” MiMi queried, speaking with Nana Ama McBrown. “If you see what they are doing, the fruits of their lifestyles, come on!”

Mimi argued that if the holy spirit is present in someone, it is very easy to discern it based on their behaviour. She said, looking at our gospel musicians, you can easily tell many of them do not have the spirit flowing in them.

“When there is the holy spirit in someone, you will know by their behaviour; it’s biblical. So [being holy] is not just about singing and writhing onstage. So me I watch some of them, just like attending a secular show. I see them as mere artists; I don’t see them as the pillar of God.”

Mimi’s comments were humorously tagged at Empress Gifty by social media users. The ‘Watch Me’ hitmaker is often in the headlines for her not-so-modest dressing and, recently, for going for face enhancement procedures.

Gospel artists complain about juju

Over the years, many gospel artists have complained about the prevalence of juju in the industry.

Cwesi Oteng once revealed that he found out some colleague musicians took his CD to the cemetery in a bid to quell his success.

Others, such as Joyce Blessing, have made similar comments. In an interview with Sammy Flex, Blessing said she is aware of ‘juju’ in gospel music because she personally experienced it when some unknown elements took her CD to a spiritualist. Blessing said she found out about the attempt on her career when someone screenshot the CD and sent it to her via WhatsApp.
