Ghanaian media personality and Guinness World Record singathon attemptee, Afua Asantewaa, has announced the results of her second attempt.
Afua Asantewaa was unsuccessful in her second attempt, according to Guinness World Records in their official response sent on Thursday, May 8, 2025.
According to GWR, Asantewaa was disqualified due to her failure to follow the les of the world record attempt, specifically the rules in relation to the breaks she was allowed to have.
According to her disqualification letter, Afua Asantewaa is allowed only 5 minutes of rest for every hour of activity, but she spent over 15 minutes of rest at one point. She also spent 105 minutes resting at another point when she only had 10 minutes of rest time.

“Our expert record managers have reviewed the evidence you provided and unfortunately, this claim is not valid due to the guidelines (rules) not being met,” GWR wrote. “We can only approve a record when all of the rules have been followed, as that is how we ensure fairness across all record attempts.”
Afua Asanttewaa announced the disappointing news via a statement in which she described the attempt as a ‘challenging yet rewarding’ journey. She expressed her gratitude to all who supported her and provided material help in anyway, including the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, Ike’s Cultural Village and a litany of sponsors.
Afua Asantewaa held her second singathon attempt from December 21 to December 26, 2024, singing for a total of 121 hours and 39 minutes at the Heroes Park Annex in Kumasi.
It followed her first World Record attempt, which came off from December 24 till December 29, 2023, when she sang for a total of five days, six hours, and 55 minutes. Her attempt was disqualified in February 2024, again for violating rules on rest breaks.
