3 People Jailed 19 Years For Stealing 700 Cedis iPhone 6s

A report by the Ghana Police is that two young boys and a lady have been arrested and jailed for 19 years by the Ho Circuit court.

According to the reports available at the news desk of Ghana Celebrities, the trio, named Mercy Sokpe, Atsu Kamasa, and Godfred Dzidonu stole an Ipbone 6s.

Narrating the story, the victim, Elijah Togbedzi, said that he was on his way somewhere, where Mercy Approached him that she needed his phone for a selfie.

Since it was a harmless request, Elijah said that he handed the phone to Mercy without any interrogations.

However, after giving the young lady the phone, Elijah claims he received became very shocked because things did not go as he thought.

The victim disclosed that after Mercy had taken the phone, she signaled her two accomplices to help her complete the mission.

According to Elijah, Atsu Kamasa, and Godfred Dzidonu came from nowhere and attacked him with scissors.

By the time he realized, the trio had run away with his iPhone 6s.

Through a thorough investigation by the police, the three armed robbers were arrested and have been jailed by the Ho circuit court.

Mercy Sokpe was jailed for 3 years while Atsu Kamasa and Godfred Dzidonu were jailed for 8 years each.

Meanwhile, the report released by the Ghana police via their official Facebook page reads;

  1. On 9th May 2025, Ho Circuit court presided over by his Honor Osman Abdul Hakeem convicted and sentenced three armed robbers to a total of 19 years imprisonment.
  2. ⁠The convicted persons are Mercy Sokpe aged 22, Atsu Kamasa aged 25 years, and Godfree Dzidonu aged 19 years. On the 4th of May, 2025, at about 4:30pm, the three convicted persons planned to rob the complainant Elijah Torgbedzi aged 21 years of his iPhone 6s mobile phone valued at 700 Ghana Cedis around the Ho central market. Mercy Sokpe initially approached the complainant and requested for his iPhone to take a selfie. The complainant obliged her request and in the process of taking the selfie, she signaled her two accomplices who attacked the complainant with scissors, and the three bolted with the iPhone. The complainant raised the alarm and Godfred Dzidonu was arrested with the Iphone, and handed over to the police.
  3. ⁠Police investigations led to the arrest of Mercy Sokpe and Atsu Kanasah from their hideouts in Ho
  4. ⁠On 9th May 2025, the three were arraigned before the Ho Circuit court on two counts of conspiracy to commit robbery: they pleaded guilty to the charges: they were convicted and sentenced to 3 years each on the charge of conspiracy to commit robbery whilst Atsu Kamasa and Godfree Dzironu were additionally sentenced to 5 years each for robbery.
  5. ⁠The police would like to advise the public to be alert, vigilant, and cautious of persons who approach them for help.
